Late-Night Indian Dining in Soho: Where to Eat After the Show

Guests raising a toast over dinner at Maharaja of India

Central London has a quiet problem after about 10pm: the good kitchens start closing. The show ends, the bars fill up, and the search begins for somewhere that will still cook you a proper meal. In Soho, it can be done.

The after-show hour

There is a particular pleasure in sitting down to real food late in the evening, when the rush has passed and the room has softened. A warm plate of something slow-cooked beats a hurried snack every time - and you are not eating against the clock the way you would before a show.

What to order late

Later in the night, lean into comfort. A rich curry with a fresh naan, a fragrant biryani, or a small spread of sharing dishes for the table. If you have been out for a while, something gentle like butter chicken or a dal sits better than the fieriest thing on the menu.

Open when others are not

Our Soho restaurant on Old Compton Street keeps some of the latest proper kitchen hours in central London - midnight on Sundays, 1am midweek, and 2am on Friday and Saturday. It sits minutes from Leicester Square and Tottenham Court Road, in the middle of Soho's late-night stretch.

Before you come

Walk-ins are welcome when the bar is free, but a quick booking saves you a wait at the weekend. Have a look at the menu first, then come and find us when the night is still going.
