Maharaja of India has cooked in the West End since 1960. Today we have two restaurants a few minutes apart: our Charing Cross dining room on Charing Cross Road, a minute from Leicester Square tube, and our Soho restaurant on Old Compton Street, close to the theatres of Shaftesbury Avenue.
The menu runs from the tandoor to slow-cooked house specials: lamb chops and chicken tikka straight from the clay oven, Railway Lamb Curry, Chettinad, Chingri Malai Curry and our slow-cooked Maharaja Special Shank, with a full list of traditional curries, biryanis and vegetarian dishes. Most of our guests are on their way somewhere: a show, the opera at the Coliseum, a night out in Soho. That is why we built our menus around the West End day, with an Express Lunch from noon to 4pm every day, a pre-theatre menu served from noon until 5.30pm, a group set menu for birthdays and office parties, and late opening in Soho.

Where are your West End restaurants?
We have two. Charing Cross is at 19A Charing Cross Road, a minute from Leicester Square tube. Soho is at 63 Old Compton Street, in the middle of Soho and close to the Shaftesbury Avenue theatres. Both are an easy walk from Covent Garden and Piccadilly Circus.
Do you have a pre-theatre menu?
Yes. Our pre-theatre menu is served daily from 12pm to 5.30pm, as a two-course meal or a three-course special with rice and naan. It suits matinees, early evening shows and an early dinner. Tell us your curtain time when you book and we will pace the meal.
Can you host a group or an office party?
We can. Our group set menu comes in three levels, Classic, Maharaja and Royal, and every guest gets the Maharaja Mixed Starter, a main, pilau rice and naan. For a room of your own, see private dining. Tell us about allergies when you book: our kitchen handles nuts, dairy, eggs, gluten, fish, shellfish, soya and sesame.
How late are you open?
Charing Cross is open every day from noon to midnight. Soho stays open later: until 1am Monday to Thursday, 2am on Friday and Saturday, and midnight on Sunday.
